Astellas is announcing a Business Analytics Manager in Northbrook, IL.

Purpose & Scope:

The Business Analytics Manager is a member of the Insights and Analytics team supporting the oncology franchise. This role is responsible for the following areas: 1) Informing commercial decision-making through advanced analytical methods, leveraging a wide variety of data sources especially patient-level data. 2) Improving efficiency and quality of deliverables by streamlining and automating existing processes using data analytics and reporting platforms. 3) Supporting other analytics and reporting work streams with custom analytical data tables. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams such as IT, Operations and other I&A teams.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Conducts analyses on market utilization and sales to identify class trends and performance relative to competitors to inform Marketing strategies and tactics, leveraging patient-level data sources.
  • Improve commercial decision making through advanced analytics tools and methods, such as patient flow models, lines of therapy, segmentation and targeting
  • Streamlines existing analytic and data processes using various data analytics and reporting platforms such as QlikSense and Tableau
  • Proactively prioritizes work based on the needs of brand teams, organizes data sources and analytic data tables, develops analysis plans, conducts analysis, synthesizes results and effectively communicates the results to customers from different backgrounds.
  • Develops best practices and code repository related to patient-level data

Quantitative Dimensions:

  • Keep outsourcing of patient data analytics to <$250K
  • Provide recommendations to improve marketing and sales spend within brands by 10% unless spend is less than 15% of brand revenue.
  • Provide recommendations to improve overall efficiency in executing data and analytical tasks

Organizational Context:

  • Keep outsourcing of patient data analytics to <$250K

Qualifications:

Required

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of data analysis and/or business analytics experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry, and 1 year patient-level data experience.
  • Extensive experience programming in SQL or SAS. Preferably working knowledge of R
  • Extensive experience working with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to effectively communicate analytical results to business users
  • Excellent organizational, planning and project management skills and ability to effectively manage cross-functional projects.
  • Attention to details and ability to work independently in a dynamic fast paced environment and multi-tasking with minimal supervision.

Preferred

  • M.S. in Statistics or Economics or other quantitative discipline is preferred, or MBA with Marketing Analytics/Decision Science Concentration.
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop and Redshift
  • Working knowledge of QlikSense and Tableau is strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of data analytic tools such as Alteryx and Knime
  • Experience in a consulting firm.
  • Working knowledge of sales data sources, e.g. IQVIA, Symphony/SHA
